Access Board - This is the web site of the Access Board, “an independent federal agency devoted to accessibility for people with disabilities.” Areas of responsibility include architecture, transportation, telecommunication, and electronic/information technology. The board develops and maintains accessibility standards in these areas; provides training and assistance for implementing the standards; and enforces the standards in federally funded facilities.

Administration on Developmental Disabilities - The home page of the Administration on Developmental Disabilities within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) - This is the web site of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). It also includes the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

Disability Info - This is the federal government’s intra-agency web portal to access information on disability-related government resources. Subjects include civil rights, education, employment, housing, health, income support, technology, transportation, and community life.

Disability Issues - Federal Communications Commission - This is the “Disability Issues” web page of the Federal Communications Commission.

Education Week Texas - This is the Texas page from the online newspaper, “Education Week”. It provides statistics on education in Texas; information on the Governor and Education Commissioner; web links to the Texas Education Agency and other state educational associations; web links to Texas newspapers; legislative updates and more.

Federal Resource Center for Special Education - This is the web site of the Federal Resource Center for Special Education. The FRC supports a nationwide technical assistance network to “assist states in implementing various education reform initiatives and other federal programs”. The site includes information on IDEA and other major pieces of legislation, as well as web links to other federal agencies that affect the disability community.

Government Printing Office - The home page of the Government Printing Office who produces and distributes Federal Government information, both in printed publications and online.

Houston Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities - includes a link to information about the Houston Commission on Disabilities.

Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County - This is the web site of the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County. It provides information on MHMRA’s services for adults, children, and family supports, including related web links.

National Council on Disabilities - The home page of the National Council on Disabilities, an independent federal agency making recommendations to the President and Congress on issues affecting Americans with disabilities.

National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research - The web site of the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, whose purpose is to “conduct comprehensive and coordinated programs of research and related activities to maximize full inclusion, social integration, employment, and independent

Office of Special Education Programs - The web site of the Office of Special Education Programs. Topics covered on the site include legislation, funding, projects and grants, monitoring, ongoing studies, and online publications.

Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities - This is the web site of the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities. “The Council works to create change so all people are fully included in their communities and exercise control over their own lives.” This site includes information on grants; public policy; FYI newsletters; free publication; web links and more.

Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services - The web site of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services whose vision is that “older Texans and persons with disabilities will be supported by a comprehensive and cost-effective service delivery system that promotes and enhances individual well-being, dignity, and choice.” The department serves older Texans and people who have either cognitive or physical disabilities “through a range of health, community, and social services designed to help them remain as independent as possible.” Also available in Spanish.

Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services - The web site of the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services whose mission is “to work in partnership with Texans with disabilities and families with children
who have developmental delays to improve the quality of their lives and to enable their full participation in society.” Services include: rehabilitation services, services for Texans who are visually impaired, services for Texans who are deaf or hard of hearing, and Early Childhood Intervention services.

Texas Education Agency - This is the home page for the Texas Education Agency web site. It includes the following categories of information on assessment, curriculum and programs, accountability, data/research and more.

Texas Health and Human Services -This is the Texas Health and Human Services web site. Links include: services, rules and statutes, news and information, and the four Health and Human Services departments.
Texas Legislature Online - This web site is entitled Texas Legislature Online and provides links and information on the Texas House of Representatives, the Texas Senate, State Agencies, and Legislative information and resources.

Texas Online - This is the State of Texas website, Texas Online, and serves as the official compilation of Texas government electronic resources. It provides links to federal, state, and local governments; State agencies; State officials; the Texas court system; Texas statutes; a bill search feature, and more. Available in Spanish.

U.S. Department of Labor’s “Disability and Workforce Programs” - This is the U.S. Department of Labor’s “Disability and Workforce Programs” home page. It includes information on work and employment incentive grants as well as the Ticket To Work program.

U.S. Dept. of Education - This is the web site map for the U.S. Dept. of Education. The site includes parent, teacher, and student resources; directories; financial aid resources; and numerous fact sheets and web links concerning educational issues including No Child Left Behind.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission - The web site of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

U.S. Federal Government Agencies Directory - A U.S. Federal Government Agencies Directory. It includes the executive branch; judicial branch; legislative branch; independent establishments and government corporations; boards, commissions, and committees; and quasi-official agencies.

U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development - This page was created for people with disabilities by the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development to provide one-stop access to disability-related information within the HUD web-site.
