Academy for Educational Development - This is the web site of the Academy for Educational Development, “an independent, non-profit organization committed to solving critical social problems is the U.S. and throughout the world.”

American Council on Rural Special Education - The web site of the American Council on Rural Special Education “founded to enhance services to students and individuals with disabilities living in rural areas.”

Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) - This is the web site of the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), an international, multicultural organization of professionals committed to full participation in higher education for persons with disabilities.”

CAST (the Center for Applied Special Technology) - This is the web site of CAST (the Center for Applied Special Technology) “whose mission is to expand educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities through the development and innovative uses of technology”. Their focus is on the “Universal Design for Learning” model and their National Center on Accessing the General Curriculum.

Center for Effective Collaboration and Practice - Online document prepared by the Center for Effective Collaboration and Practice entitle “Prevention Strategies That Work”. “This electronic guide describes prevention practices that K-8 public school administrators have found to be effective in accelerating school performance, increasing readiness for learning, and reducing problem behaviors.”

Circle of Inclusion - This is the Circle of Inclusion web site which “offers demonstrations of and information about the effective practices of inclusive educational programs for children from birth through age eight.” Available in several languages including Spanish.

Council for Exceptional Children  -  The web site of the Council for Exceptional Children, “the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted”. It includes web links, resources, training events and public policy statements.

Do 2 Learn - This is the “Do 2 Learn” web site, providing “activities to promote independence in individuals with special learning needs.” The site provides many printable educational tools such as picture cards, organizational charts, math grids, time helpers and more. Also included are art projects, written activities, a children’s magazine, and a guide of recommended products.

Education Week Texas - This is the Texas page from the online newspaper, “Education Week”. It provides statistics on education in Texas; information on the Governor and Education Commissioner; web links to the Texas Education Agency and other state educational associations; web links to Texas newspapers; legislative updates and more.

Education World - This is the Special Education section of Education World, an online resource where educators can share ideas and find information, research materials, and lesson plans.

emTech (Emerging Technologies) - This is the home page of emTech (Emerging Technologies) and provides web links to “over 15,000 resources organized by topics for teachers, students, and parents.”

Equal Access to Software and Information (EASI) - This web site is hosted by Equal Access to Software and Information (EASI), whose mission is to help educators ensure that their students with disabilities have equal access to information and resources. The site addresses both grade school and college level students and includes topics such as math and science, libraries, adaptive software and hardware, and more. Also included are many web links and internet resources.

Exploring Inclusive Education - A project of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Chicago entitled “The Web Spot for Exploring Inclusive Education”. This site offers teaching strategies for elementary school, middle school, and high school levels; strategies for incorporating assistive technology into the classroom; and a list of resources and information.

Federal Resource Center for Special Education - This is the web site of the Federal Resource Center for Special Education. The FRC supports a nationwide technical assistance network to “assist states in implementing various education reform initiatives and other federal programs”. The site includes information on IDEA and other major pieces of legislation, as well as web links to other federal agencies that affect the disability community.

Gentle Teaching - This site discusses the “Gentle Teaching” instructional strategy – “a non-violent approach for helping people with special needs and sometimes challenging behaviors…” It includes a web link to the Gentle Teaching International home page.

HEATH - This is the home page of HEATH, the national information clearinghouse on post-secondary education for individuals with disabilities. The web site includes an online newsletter, resources, web links, and publications.

IDEA ’97 Transition Requirements - This online document is entitled “IDEA ’97 Transition Requirements – A Guide for States, Districts, Schools, Universities and Families.”

IEP Technical Assistance Guide - This is an online IEP Technical Assistance Guide created by the Nebraska Department of Education. “It provides practical information as well as information about the best practices. It guides individuals through the IEP process by reviewing the requirements of the law, determining why those requirements are important and deciding how each requirement can be best implemented.”

National Association of School Psychologists - The web site of the National Association of School Psychologists. It includes their position papers on a number of educational, behavioral, and assessment issues.

National Center on Educational Outcomes - The web site of the National Center on Educational Outcomes who “provides national leadership in the participation of students with disabilities and limited English proficient students in national and state assessments, standards-setting efforts, and graduation requirements.”

Office of Special Education Programs - The web site of the Office of Special Education Programs. Topics covered on the site include legislation, funding, projects and grants, monitoring, ongoing studies, and online publications.

Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights Center - This is the web site for the Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights Center whose mission is “to expand opportunities and enhance the quality of life of children and young adults with disabilities and their families, based on the concept of parents helping parents.”

Partners Resource Network - This is the home page of the Partners Resource Network, a non-profit agency serving Texas as the statewide Parent Training and Information Center. Their mission is “to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to be effective advocates and decision makers, and to promote equal partnerships between parents/individuals with disabilities and professionals.”

President’s Commission on Excellence in Special Education - This web site links to the report of the President’s Commission on Excellence in Special Education established to “collect information and study issues related to Federal, State, and local special education programs with the goal of recommending policies for improving the education performance of students with disabilities.” The report was delivered to President Bush July 1, 2002.

Project Participate -This is the web site of Project Participate providing “families, educators, administrators and therapists with simple strategies to increase the active participation of students with disabilities in school programs.” “ Project Participate facilitates team collaboration and the appropriate use of technology in the classroom.”

School Psychology Resources Online - This is the home page for School Psychology Resources Online and provides web links to information on school psychology, specific disabilities, common childhood issues, assessments, education law, and more.

SERI (Special Education Resources on the Internet) - This is a collection of web links entitled SERI (Special Education Resources on the Internet).

Special Education News - Special Education News is an online publication that reports current news events in the field of special education. The web site includes “places for educators and others to exchange their views, find links to important information at other sites on the Web and keep track of news and events across the country.”

Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education - The web site of the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education. It includes legislative and special education policy watches and links to other organizations and resources.

Texas Education Agency’s Special Education - The Texas Education Agency’s Special Education web site which provides “more than seven dozen links to comprehensive information on Special Education issues.” It also gives a link to join their Special Education Updates ListServ for email notifications of new information on the web site.

Texas School for the Deaf - The web site of the Texas School for the Deaf whose mission is to “promote quality educational opportunities and achievement for the deaf students of Texas by providing a comprehensive educational and residential program and a complete array of consultative services for parents and professionals throughout the State.”

Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired - The web site of the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired who works with Local Education Agencies, parents and guardians, students with visual impairments, and Education Service Centers from throughout the state of Texas.

Transition Coalition - This is the web sit of the Transition Coalition providing “information, support, and linkages for all people interested and involved in the transition of students with disabilities from school to adult life.”

U.S. Dept. of Education - This is the web site map for the U.S. Dept. of Education. The site includes parent, teacher, and student resources; directories; financial aid resources; and numerous fact sheets and web links concerning educational issues.
